At House of Refuge, our business is taking the broken human spirit and restoring it body, mind and soul. We feel that by educating and assisting the entire person we not only strengthen the individual, but the family as well.
Situated on nearly 20 acres in East Mesa, our program offers 88 two -bedroom single family homes and a chapel/support center – allowing us to provide a stable, family friendly environment to program participants. Occupancy is limited to 6 family members per home. On any given day, approximately 100 adults and 150 children call House of Refuge “home”. Many come from a history of domestic violence and children often become the innocent victims. A safe home and community is vital in rebuilding a healthy future. House of Refuge is not only a transitional program, but also a social services and work program. Experienced staff are here to assist every participant in the successful transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
Our Lotus Logo: The lotus flower is the perfect symbol for the work we do. Although its roots and beginnings are underwater in the mud, the stem grows up through the water. Eventually a beautiful flower will reside pristinely above the water basking in the sunlight. Though there are other water plants that bloom above water, it is only the lotus that will regularly rise eight to twelve inches above the surface due to the strength of its stem. |
