Resident and Staff Quotes

Carla came to House of Refuge as a recovering addict of 5 years.  She had a one year old child, was 9 months pregnant, and was without financial resources.  In her words, “I had nothing.”  She had determination and tenacity.  “One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that so often people focus on problems instead of putting that energy toward getting rid of the problem.  I now look at each day and everything I have as a blessing and try to find solutions instead of excuses”.
